For the past number of years I have been contracting for some amazing community groups, mostly working around food security.  I am always looking for new opportunities to promote community building and develop local business and food economies.

NOWBC Warehouse and Volunteer Manager
October 2011 – present

Neighbourhood Organics Weekly BC (NOWBC) is an online farmers market that delivers local, organic food to customers in Vancouver. We are a cooperative, and have a number of customers at 40+ neighbourhood depots throughout Vancouver.  This model allows for community building around food, as neighbours come together to form buying clubs.  I work with local farmers and our volunteers to ensure efficient delivery of organic food twice a week within our depots.

Coquitlam Farmers Market Society – Pocket Market Staff
June 2011 – October 2011

The Coquitlam Farmers Market Society has developed a very successful Pocket Market Program.  A Pocket Market brings fresh, local food into corporate spaces each week.  The program allows farmers and food producers to continue their good work while staff take over marketing and direct sales of their food goods.  This is a great model for developing food economies, and I hope to continue working with the program.  I was responsible for education and direct sales of a number of local farmers and food producers.

Fraser Region Harvest Box Coordinator
March 2010 – November 2011

The Harvest Box program serves to deliver fresh produce to low-income families and seniors.  For $8 / box families could access a box of fresh produce delivered to their community centre.  I developed a Local Box program giving customers access to fresh produce sourced exclusively from BC farmers.

Surrey Urban Farmers Market Manager
May 2009 – October 2010

The Surrey Urban Farmers Market brings great farmers, food producers and artisans together in Whalley.  I managed the market for two years, and was able to build the market over that time.  With over 20 vendors each week we have developed a strong food economy in Whalley. We also developed a Food Nutrition Coupon Program that gave low-income families money to spend each week at the market. I currently sit as the Vice President of the Surrey Urban Farmers Market Society.

McKenzie Towne Program Coordinator (Calgary, AB)
September 2007 – October 2008

McKenzie Towne was a community of 2500 residents in the SE of Calgary.  I was responsible for program development and special event planning at the hall where I completely redeveloped our program offerings expanding from 20 programs to 60 high quality fitness, arts and youth programs marketed through a well designed community program guide.  I also delivered a one day music festival, an award winning day camp program and created a Farmers Market within the community.
